GUMBUYA WORLD SET TO DAZZLE

WITH HIGH-TECH SHOWCASE

OF INDIGENOUS CULTURE

Traditional First Nations story telling will meet cutting-edge technology at Gumbuya World with Gumbuya Dreaming, an innovative digital light experience created and produced by Yarnology*, led by acclaimed Indigenous artist Wayne Quilliam. Taking place amidst the winter wonderland of Gumbuya World, this inaugural event promises to be a celebration of Indigenous culture like no other in Victoria. With a portfolio that spans the globe, including his recent groundbreaking work at the Indigenous Lume Melbourne Experience, Quilliam brings his unique creative vision to Gumbuya Dreaming.

From June 8 to July 21, visitors will have the chance to embark on a journey 60,000 years in the dreaming, intertwining artistic mastery with the rich tapestry of First Nations stories. The Lazy River will be transformed into an illuminated billabong, while a soundscape will immerse visitors as they walk the wildlife trail’s luminous park and wander among glowing trees. Indigenous stories and artwork will be brought to life in special zones featuring interactive installations the whole family can enjoy. Think a mini-Parrtjima (Festival of Light) taking over 1.74 hectares of the state’s favourite theme park.  “Each one of these zones is connected through our traditional story telling, a culmination of my knowledge and all the stories that have been told to me,” Quilliam said.

“We’ve created this as a meeting place to share our stories with the world and tell the history of the land it’s sitting on.”  In addition to the breath taking light experience, visitors can enjoy the excitement of the park’s thrilling and leisurely rides, and indulge in mouth watering delights from a selection of food trucks. Get ready to immerse yourself in a world of captivating light installations and entrancing soundscapes in our Dreaming Zones, exploring the beauty of flowers, the dance of fire and water, and the majesty of land and animals. At the heart of Gumbuya lies its Aboriginal meaning,“ meeting place”.
